Judy Rebick was born in Reno, Nevada but grew up in Brooklyn New York. Her family moved to Toronto in 1955 and she happily became a Canadian citizen a decade later. An activist and journalist most of her life, Judy was the spokesperson for the pro-choice movement in the 1980's, defending Dr. Henry Morgentaler from a knife attack in front of his clinic and going on to become President of Canada's largest women's group.
Her first book published in 1996, was a dialogue with a young Black feminist Kiké Roach on the future of feminism. She has written seven books since on feminism and democracy. Her latest is a memoir, Heroes in My Head about healing from childhood sexual abuse through activism.
