Joe Dobrow was raised on Long Island, and graduated from Brown University and the Yale School of Management. He now lives in Colorado, where he runs MBArk, a company that connects business education to the food business.
Dobrow spent most of his career as a marketing executive in the natural foods industry with Fresh Fields, Whole Foods Market, Balducci's, and Sprouts Farmers Market. He has also served as a top executive with Discovery Channel, the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, and Flexcar.
He is the author of two books: Natural Prophets (Rodale Books, 2014), a history of the natural foods industry; and Pioneers of Promotion (University of Oklahoma Press, 2018), which focuses on the colorful and charismatic press agents for Buffalo Bill's Wild West, the Barnum & Bailey Circus, and the World's Columbian Exposition - characters forgotten by history, but who collectively built the sophisticated marketing industry we know today in the United States.
