Amanda Patrick

Though I started making up stories and jotting them down almost as soon as I learned to form words, and had even intended to focus on writing as my career, other opportunities presented themselves and I took a break from it for close to twenty years. It’s only in the last decade that writing has once again become as essential to me as breathing.

With years of teaching experience behind me, focussed mostly on younger children, I suppose it was only natural that my first publication be a rhyming picture book. Seeing my listing on Amazon for the first time was a feeling I don’t think I’ll ever forget. I was positively giddy. I didn’t think anything could top that. However, I was soon proved wrong. Reading my book to my niece for the first time beat the joy of listing hands down.

I am so grateful for both the opportunity and the overwhelming support that has led to the publication of my first books with Amazon. The freedom to create and develop my projects is addictive. There are no limits to the worlds I can explore, the characters I can create or the artistic choices I can make. I can’t wait dive into my next book and I’m becoming increasingly jealous of every minute I’m away from the computer, LOL!
