Nelson David Bassey

An advocate of the philosophy that "Focus only on your studies" is bad advice for students.

Nelson David helps students graduate with 3 things: A "Degree" (classroom excellence), an "Experience" (real-world accomplishments), and a "Brand" (propositional value to offer the real world). These 3 things combined, he believes, can triple students value and can help them stand out from the ordinary college graduates.

Beginning College as an ordinary focus-on-my-studies-only kind of student, David made a change in his mentality along the way and consequently, graduated college with the 3 things mentioned about; a distinction in Mechanical Engineering, founded organizations, and an author. He shares his story how ordinary students can transform into outstanding and growing leaders in his book THE NEW GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP.

Born in Nigeria, formally educated in Russia as well as Malaysia, David has had unique exposure to various leaders in the African, Asian, and Western continents. This blend of exposure to different cultures has helped David to realize and appreciate the common denominator of true leadership regardless of culture, ethnicity, and race.

David has had firsthand experience with how to become a successful leader as just in a period of nine months,he was able to make a 180-degree turn in his mentality and belief in himself, and he never looked back after he realized his newfound love for motivation, leadership, and extracting the potential in people to make them the best they can be.

David is one of the co-founders of "Leaders of Tomorrow", a club that aims at nurturing, molding and equipping young leaders to become whole. He served as the club's second President. He is also the pioneer and founder of I Am A Winner Student Program, an endeavor devoted to recognizing and awarding high school, college and university students as winners. David does this to help build a learning environment where students are motivated and develop outstanding leadership qualities. And since he started out in September 2012, he has awarded over 17 honorees and inspired over 500 campus students.

In 2013, David was selected by McKinsey & Company, Malaysia as one of the few participants of the nationwide Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) 2013; A project based social entrepreneurship program.
