Bruce Stapleton

Dr. Bruce Stapleton has written two popular Indian-themed novellas: The Hollyhocks Trail and Watonka. He recently updated a non-fiction book about the Washington pro football team and retitled it Everybody Says It on Sunday. His background includes stints as a newspaper and television reporter, a college professor, a software trainer, and a senior research specialist for a defense contractor.

He has a doctorate in Administration from the University of Texas-Arlington, an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Arkansas, and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma. A disabled veteran, Dr. Stapleton served 23 years in the military, including 20 in the Army Reserve.

His ancestral roots go back to Rattlesnake Holler in southwestern Oklahoma, where his grandfather Clay Stapleton was among the earliest white settlers, although his father claimed there was Indian blood as well. It was Indian Territory (I.T.) back then. Statehood came in 1907, the year his father was born.

Dr. Stapleton is currently retired and living in Kentucky.
