Philip J. Hoffman is the founder and president of HoffmanFit. He is a fitness and nutrition expert, and author and blogger, with more than three decades of training and experience in the industry. HoffmanFit is an online information-based fitness, nutrition, consulting and publishing company.
Philip started as a high school gymnast, which led to a career in competitive bodybuilding. After several years of training, Philip won two state body building championships. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he earned a B.S. degree in biology from Cal State University and his Certified Fitness Trainer certification and started Body Image, a very successful private fitness training business. A decade later, Philip sold his business and turned his attention to expanding his knowledge and academic credentials
Philip relocated to Washington D.C., where he earned a Master of Science degree in molecular biology and biochemistry from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Returning to Los Angeles, he continued his education earning an MBA in Finance from California Polytechnic University. His most recent academic award was earning his certification in sports nutrition (CISSN) through the International Society of Sports Nutrition.
The substance of his scientific studies led Philip to start changing the way he viewed fitness: while exercise is critical in producing a fit body, nutrition is equally or more important in changing body composition to become lean and healthy. With his advanced knowledge, and by integrating the concepts and principles of biochemistry and physiology to nutrition, he studied a large body of scientific literature on how to prevent most major diseases that plague modern society. His conclusion was that dietary habits play the most significant role in a person’s long-term health and body composition.
Philip is known for his ability to translate nutritional science into understandable facts, and for focusing only on strategies which produce results for those who follow his system. Philip brings real-life experience to the fitness and nutrition principles presented in the HoffmanFit System and often refers to his own body as his research lab. He’s learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t work.
Such diligence is what underlies the HoffmanFit System—a life’s worth of sincere effort, study and practical experience. After his bodybuilding career, fitness training career and graduate studies, Philips’ time is now consumed primarily with helping individuals regain control of their personal health and realize their fitness potential. He devotes a significant amount of time to writing and developing his blog as well as two major publications scheduled for release in 2014.
Today, Philip is in the best condition of his life. He attributes his health and physical condition to practicing the same principles that he teaches in the HoffmanFit System. Unlike a majority of the quick-fix programs on the market, his principles stand the “test of time”. Philip has become an in-demand fitness and lifestyle model and he’s doing exactly what he wants to do, helping others transform their lives by providing them with the proper knowledge to reach their goals.
