Richard P. Cobb

Now retired after a thirty-five year career as teacher, supervisor of special education and school psychologist my wife and I operate a farm in the Pennsylvania Endless Mountains called Roundtop Ranch. Born in Sac City, Iowa in 1938, Pennsylvania has been my home since childhood. The name "Roundtop" was adapted from the movie "Gettysburg" where I appeared as one of the six "HotHeads " of the 2nd Maine in scenes with Jeff Daniels as Colonel Joshua Chamberlaine. Although not an reinactor subsequent appearances included "Gods and Generals" and "Andersonville".

My book AMBROSE Civil War Journey follows the footsteps of my great-grandfather to war's end through all the epic battles including Pea Ridge, Chickasaw Bluffs, Vicksburg, Lookout Mountain, Atlanta, and Columbia to the Grand Review March before the White House. Although wounded twice Ambrose returns home to Iowa where my wife and I followed the "Army of the West" to every battlefield, a project covering several years.

AMBROSE Civil War Journey has been added to the Jefferson Library at West Point, the State Historical Society of Iowa as well as the archival library of the U.S. Army and Heritage and Education Center located at Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
