Bob Cox

In March, 2017, Bob's 'Opening Doors to Quality Writing' books won an Educational Resources Award in the best 'educational book' category! Since becoming an award-winning author, Bob has published three more books including in 2024 the ground breaking ‘Opening Doors to Ambitious Primary English’ which has evidence and ideas from a huge network of UK schools.

The impact in the classroom has gained him wide recognition with Bob becoming a Fellow of The English Association in 2025.

Bob is a freelance educational consultant who has worked with over 600 schools and has presented his ideas at national and international conferences. All his work supports the search for excellence and he has a brilliant team working with him. Schools all over the country and beyond are using the ‘Opening Doors’ books and Bob has given key-notes at many educational conferences, including The Education Festival three times.

Bob taught English for 23 years and then worked for a local authority school improvement service before starting his varied independent career.

During 2025/6 Bob will continue to tour schools and lead conferences and there will be a consistent and passionate message that using quality texts can be the route to quality writing!
