Trach Ba Vu

Trach Ba Vu was born in 1939 in a small village in North Vietnam at the onset of World War II. He grew up amidst constant wars of one kind or another.

At the age of sixteen, he and his family escaped from the socialist North to the Republic of South Vietnam, where he became a high school teacher. After two years as a teacher, he resigned to become an officer of the South Vietnamese Navy. Trach fought against the North the entire duration of the Vietnam War.

When the South Vietnamese government collapsed in 1975, he escaped at the very last moment with his family and immigrated to United States of America.

In the United States, he returned to school as a student and earned a bachelor of arts and a master’s degree in mathematics. Afterward, he again taught high school mathematics, this time in a small western Kansas town.

Upon his retirement, he began to write this story. His writing reflects his experience with war and death and with the trials of immigration and starting a new life in the United States.
