Dr. Jackie Roese grew up in upstate New York. Shortly after coming to Christ, she and her husband Steve moved to Texas to attend Dallas Theological Seminary. Seminary was Jackie’s first exposure to Christians, the Bible, and the South! In 2003, Jackie joined the staff of Irving Bible Church as the Teaching Pastor to Women.
While there she taught the Scriptures and trained other women to do the same. She envisioned, wrote, and oversaw the development of a decade of Bible study materials. These Bible study materials have been used in more than 18 states and 17 countries, including Iraq and Korea. In 2008 she was invited to be the first female preacher at Irving Bible Church. She spent four years serving on the Sunday morning preaching team.
In 2010, Jackie graduated with her Doctorate in Preaching from Gordon Conwell Seminary. During her time at Gordon she developed, She Can Teach, a course that trains women to teach the bible effectively. To coincide with the course, in 2013 Jackie published her first book, She Can Teach: Training Women to Teach the Scriptures Effectively.
In 2012, Jackie founded The Marcella Project, an organization committed to reshaping the view of women in the church. The Marcella Project’s goal is to ennoble women (lift up to dignity as Jesus intended) through Scripture- focused teaching, training, and dialogue. In 2015 Jackie wrote her second book, Lime Green: Reshaping Our View of Women in the Church, and in 2018 she wrote I’m Enough: Living Confidently in Your Own Skin. She and Dr. Sue Russell, co-authored Relationshift: Changing the Conversation About Men and Women in the Church in 2018 also.
She’s trained women here and abroad to preach through her She Can Teach course. Her online masterclass I'm Enough is proving to be a powerful source for good in our #metoo times to help women learn to live confidently in their own skin. More about Jackie Roese and the I'm Enough Masterclass can be found at www.JackieRoese.com and www.TheMarcellaProject.com and on @TheMarcellaProject Facebook page.
Jackie also speaks around the U.S. at conferences and retreats. She has had the opportunity to teach and train women in Rwanda, Romania and Southern Sudan. She and her husband, Steve, were influential in the start-up of the micro finance organization called, AWI, African Women’s Initiative.
She has been married to Steve, Founder & President of Water Is Basic, for more than 30 years and has three young adult children, Hunter, Hampton and Madison.
