One late night after working a 16 hour day, I was still in my office around midnight. Given the fact that I was so tired, and it was too late for me to make the 1 hour drive home, I decided to stay the night as I often did. When I stopped to take a short break to rest my eyes away from the computer screen, I sat quietly looking around my office when I realized everything that I had missed in life was by my own design. As I glanced around my office, I realized the only thing hanging on the walls that meant anything to me among all the awards, certificates, and college degrees, were the pictures of my family.
In that moment I realized how much I had missed in their lives, and that I would give that away, if I could get back just a little of time I'd lost. Suddenly, I had this uncontrollable urge to just leave, and it wasn't just for the night, I was obsessed with the thought of leaving for good. So, I threw in the towel and hung up my corporate hat for the last time, and I have never looked back. What that single event set into motion, would set the stage for the rest of my life on a journey to find my Never-land.
Three years ago, I was a corporate burn out because I was the “Guy” that wore all the hats working 14-16 hour days for peanuts. These days I'm still the “GUY” that wears all the hats with several differences. Most days I only work 3-4 hours a day, writing to earn my living from my websites, and from the proceeds of my books. It would be hard for me to tell you what a great feeling it is to get out of bed, walk into my kitchen for coffee and breakfast, stumble into my bathroom for a quick shower, and dress for success in a T-Shirt and Shorts. They say: "When you love what you do, you never work a day in your life", and I could not agree more; It's Priceless!
