Harold A. Skaarup

Harold Aage Skaarup, CD, BFA, MA. Retired from the Canadian Forces as an Army Intelligence Officer in 2011. He served with the Canadian Forces Parachute Team, the “Sky Hawks"; and overseas with HQ Canadian Forces Europe and later with 4 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in Lahr, Germany. He also served with the Canadian Airborne Regiment on United Nations duty in Nicosia, Cyprus; with the NATO-led Peace Stabilization Force in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; with North American Aerospace Defence Command, on Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, and with the Kabul Multi-National Brigade, as part of the International Security Assistance Force in Kabul, Afghanistan. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and earned his Master of Arts Degree in War Studies at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario. He is an Associate RCAF Historian and a member of the Canadian Aerospace Artists Association. He continues to research and author a number of books on military history, with his most recent publication "Canadian Expeditionary Force and Militia cap badges in the YSHS, FRM collection.
