John O. Cheney

Born October 12, 1931

Married to Pat Wilson November 29, 1958. Unfortunately this marriage was terminated in 1981.

Married to Rosemary Trent McCoskey April 28, 1982. Rosemary died in May 2004.

Graduated from Port Huron Michigan High School January 1950.

Graduated with MSEE from Michigan State University in March 1956.

Spent 2 years active duty in US Army Signal Corps. Part of my service was on Eniwetok atoll in the Marshal Islands. During my stint I observed several nuclear weapons tests.

Worked for Collins Radio Company (now part of Rockwell International and Boeing) for over 30 years as an hf radio systems engineer and computer programmer. Was involved with several important projects.

Now retired and loving it.

Brought up and raised in the Methodist Church. Transferred to the Episcopal Church just prior to first marriage to insure my wife and I were of the same faith. Rosemary was also an Episcopalian.

Studied for 2 years in a Dallas diocesan ordination course. Also took and completed a five year EFM (Education For Ministry) course from the University of the South (Sewanee). Also took the Alpha course, a non denominational Christian education program, and the 2 year Bethel program.

For 22 years I have annually compiled a parish Lenten booklet that each year features 40 articles written by lay and clergy authors.

Have served as a volunteer crisis telephone line counselor for nearly 20 years.

Wrote "Meditations for the Watch" to help myself and others to find mind filling ideas about the crucifixion of Christ during the time set aside for private meditations.
