Patrick Roth

Patrick Roth, M.D. is the the Chairman of Neurosurgery at Hackensack University Medical Center and the founding chair of Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Dr Roth has recently completed a Master's degree in public health at Columbia University. Dr. Roth has practiced neurosurgery in New Jersey for the past twenty years. He has been a perennial recipient of Castle and Connolly "Top Doctors" and has been featured in New York magazine's "Best Doctors," and New Jersey magazine's "Top Doctors." He has authored numerous articles on the spine and been a contributing author in many neurosurgical publications. He lives in northern New Jersey with his wife. Dr. Roth's lifelong interest in fitness and diet has shaped his focus on minimally invasive and non-operative solutions to back pain. He believes in the power of harnessing the synergy between the mind and the body. In addition, he believes that the provider's greatest power lies in his or her narratives. The provider's ability is thus counterintuitively drawn from his or her character more than fund of knowledge or skill set. He has long felt that the field of medicine is, "not what one may think". The solution lies in the cummulative effort of providers and patients developing their individual narratives and then allowing these narratives to meet as a provider-patient joint narrative. A narrative that is both grounded in the perspective of the patient and also utilizes the experience and benign paternalism of the provider.
