Raymond Angel Martinez is a writer who describes himself as a Renaissance man trapped at the VMA awards. He writes mostly to maintain his own sanity and to explore obscure roads, both physically and metaphorically.
Raised as a bi-coastal child, half in New York and half in L.A., he has a unique perspective on the ongoing comedy/tragedy that is America.
His experiences have taken him from tequila shot contests in the bars of Tijuana and antique shopping in Bruges to parties lit by fires in the caves of California and opening night balls at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. He has watched women fighting in roller derbies, gun fights in the Bronx and presidents inaugurated.
Being the physical manifestation of the underdog, he writes for the people behind the curtain, the stagehands of life. The men and women that turn on the lights, cook the food and clean up after the show.
He met his life partner on the mat of the Dojo and fell in love with her as she was choking him out. His shelter dog was returned to the shelter by her previous owner for being untrainable. His two teenage sons alternately love and hate him depending on the day and solar flare activity.
The whole beautiful circus is now living in the Tampa bay area of Florida enjoying the sun sets and sweating a lot.
