Judy Waller

Judy Waller and her husband John are co-authors, along with Joy Hoerner Rich and Karen Tolley, of their first published book, Berta and Elmer Hader: A Lifetime of Art. Like Berta and Elmer Hader, the Wallers are book illustrators (college science texts, and children's How-to books by Klutz Press). Like Berta and Elmer, they have always worked together collaboratively on their art projects in their home studio. Also like Berta and Elmer, they built their own home, all the while carrying on with their illustration work. John earned a B.A. degree in Commercial Art from California State University, San Jose, while Judy earned a B.A. degree in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. Through their training and experience in art and science, John and Judy view the Haders’ life and work with profound respect and appreciation. The Wallers are dedicated, through their participation in the production of this book, to creating a worthy and beautiful showcase of some of the Haders’ outstanding work in a variety of media and subject areas. John handled all the images, including photography, scanning, retouching, color adjusting, and preparing them for publication. Judy designed the book interior and cover, and provided typesetting and composition services, as well as some editing.
