Rick Alan Rice (RAR) has a thing about connections: people and the way they feel and think, the land and how we relate to it, and the spirit, especially. It all takes on a life of its own, and often drives our fears and emotional responses to situations. He has noticed it over many years, through the stories he covered in the backwaters of American journalism, and then through years in the environmental design industry, wherein preservation and sustainability have been watchwords. Even in his work in information technology, he has felt this nexus between the decisions we make and the often unforeseen forces that we create as a result. He finds the line between the practical and the ethereal to be an issue of perception, and each individual’s angle on the subject to be a measure of their person; not perhaps of their soul, or their individual value, but their geographical location in the universe of ideas and feelings. The extent to which their plots align with the world is key to unlocking what he thinks of as “the Royal Secret”, a designation borrowed from ancient freemasonry. His novel "ATWOOD - A Toiler's Weird Odyssey of Deliverance" is an expression of the nexus of forces, practical and ethereal, that are manifest in our experience of life, often tantalizingly beyond the reach of our comprehension and understanding. On the down-to-earth side, RAR lives in California with his wife, kids and cats. He is the principal owner of Rick Alan Rice Consulting, LLC, a communications firm, and he is the head of the RARWRITER Publishing Group, with Websites including www.RARWRITER.com and Revolution Culture Journal (www.revolutionculturejournal.com) among others.
