Thierno Ibrahima DIA

Senegalese Film Expert (Academic, Journalist and Creative Producer). He taught Comparative Film Studies (Bordeaux Montaigne and Niamey Universities, 1999 -2023 & 2014-2020). He is the Chief-Editor for Africiné Magazine (www.africine.org, Dakar, World Leader for Diasporas & Africa films). He is a film programmer (2016 AMAA Lagos, 2021 Fespaco, 2022 Sheffield Doc Fest, Cozes, Oléron Visions d’Afrique, Bordeaux Afriques en Vision....).

Thierno authored many books, articles ("Ousmane Sembène", 2009, "Mambety o il viaggio della iena" with a preface by Martin Scorsese, 2019, Paper for Filmoteca Española Madrid ... and lectures at Quai Branly Museum, COE Barzio, Carthage FilmFest, …).

President of the Short Narratives Jury at the 2nd MIFF (6-13 May 2023, Yasmine Hammamet, Tunisia), he was a Jury member in Cozes, Africlap, Carthage, Luxor, …. Notorious screenplays’ reader and Film Commissioner (Senegal, Tunisia, France, Niger, Morocco, Canada, OIF Francophonie, TV5…), he joined in 2023 the Advances on Revenues Commission for Short Films (AVR) on behalf of the French National Film Center (CNC, Paris).

Thierno received 3 Special Prizes (Achievement Awards) from international film festivals: Verona 2010, Milan 2011 and Dakar Image & Vie 2018. He is the 2023 Guest of honour of the RDV Cinémas du Monde (in Richelieu, France, 3-11 June 2023).
