I spent most of my working life at sea, except for ten years flying as a navigator on commercial jets (before GPS came along, obviously).

Originally off a sheep farm in the Highlands of Scotland, I have lived and worked in many parts of the world but now live between London and south-east Spain

A voracious reader, when I read fiction, I've always had a liking for clever thrillers - the more twists the better, especially when ending with the totally unexpected! This describes both DEADLY DUPLICITY, a thriller set between the costa's of Spain and the Lake District... and ‘MURDER UNDER THE SUN’. The latter is a rewrite of an earlier book, also on Amazon, called; The Odd Job Woman – but now expanded and improved! Again set along the costas of southern Spain, it is a tale of deceit and murder with many twists and turns before a final surprising denouement.

Also out is a diary I kept called, DOWN MEXICO WAY! It's from the early nineties while captain of a Mexican rig (tug and tow) hauling bad grain from the Mississippi and the Houston Ship Canal, across the US Gulf to Progreso in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico.

It describe a hair-raising few months in the free for all world of Mexican shipping, with surprises coming up, thick and fast - it also gives intriguing glimpses and insights into the different, mostly competitive nationalities involved; Mexican, American, British and Filipino – it’s a detached view of a heavily attached life, described in over 400 pages…

I'm also about to publish a memoir called 'A Highland Boy'. It goes from when I was born on a sheep farm in the West Highlands in 1936, to going to sea in 1953, getting married in London in 1961. She threw me out a few years later when I was flying. I was then a navigator with an airline for ten years until the inertial navigation system forced us into unpaid redundancy. So it was back to sea...and so it went on, always taken by surprise by what was coming down the pike!
