H.J. Sage

After retiring from the Marine Corps where I worked as a speechwriter for five years I taught American history and literature for 30 years at three different colleges. While teaching I wrote two American history textbooks, "From Colonies to Free Nation" and "Freedom and Responsibility" as low-cost alternatives to the overpriced texts sold in bookstores. I also ghost wrote a book for Father Joseph Martin, "Chalk Talks on Alcohol," published in 1982 and still in print.

Following my retirement from teaching I published my first novel, "The Irish Connection," the product of my teaching of Irish history. "The Irish Connection" mixes Irish and American history with a political twist. The follow-on story, "Londonderry Affair," delves deeper into the recent history of Northern Ireland, the period known "The Troubles." I visited Londonderry to research the novel in January 2014.

My most recent novels include Rikki's Odyssey, Grounded in a Storm, The Lady and the Law, The Sound of Loneliness, and All That Joy Can Give. You can find more about me on my website, www.sageamericanhistory.net, which also contains the content of my history texts, As well as on my author page: www.hjsagebooks.com.
