Mr. Edward Roy

Born in the Jim Crow south and raised in Harlem, NY, Edward Roy received his basic infantry training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Later he enrolled in the Army's Medical Corpsman School at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He attended the US Army's Advanced Marksmanship School in Lanstuhl, Germany, where he became an expert rifle and pistol shot. He was chosen to head the 62nd Medical Groups Color Guard, selected as soldier of the month, received excellent work evaluations while working at the US Army's General Hospital in Frankfurt, and successfully completed the hundred-mile Nijmegen, Holland Marches. After serving Uncle Sam for three years, mostly in Europe, he received an honorable discharge, graduated from college with an MBA on the GI Bill, and finally retired from Corporate America. Married for forty-three years, the author has two children and eight grandchildren.
