Overview. Ruth Schimel may not seem a neatly-defined expert to some people. Yet the range of her work is clearly focused on guiding clients to realize their true capacities for their own and others’ benefit. She does this as a career and life management consultant, author, foundation leader, and collaborator with groups and organizations to move forward during these times of accelerating change. To honor the natural complexities of such situations, Ruth makes creative connections and synthesizes interdisciplinary ideas, subjects, and information. Client services. Since 1983, Ruth has assisted over 2,000 individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds. Foundation. In 1998, Ruth and her mother, Beatrice Schimel, developed The Schimel Lode based on their family values. With an excellent Board, Ruth now leads and manages The Schimel Lode, a nontraditional foundation to promote collaboration and innovation among nonprofits for the public good in the Washington, D.C. area. Prior experience: university teaching and diplomacy. Previously a management consultant, Ruth also taught human resources and related subjects at Georgetown, American, George Washington, and Marymount universities. For the Department of State, she was a diplomat in Ecuador, Guatemala, and India. Among those posts, she managed human resources and executive development, analyzed and synthesized research and intelligence, and headed the consular section in Calcutta. She continues to speak Spanish.
