Philip A. Oldfield

I hold an honours degree in Geography from the University of Exeter. Manchester Metropolitan University (2022) awarded me a Master of Fine Art with distinction in creative writing.

To understand the sacrifices some make, the evil some sink to, the malevolence some live by, the love some fly by, and the journeys each of us takes, we need to live other lives, for we are more connected than we realise across space, place and time.

My fourth novel, ‘When the Kestrel Calls’, is yet to be published. It is a haunting tale of love, loss, and the bonds that transcend death. The audience will likely be readers interested in literary novels and supernatural tropes, seeking a deep and meaningful experience spanning intergenerational relationships and relatable human emotions -- Ninety-year-old Lily, dying in a nursing home, grapples with her past, arguing with a resident ghost about secrets she kept from her son, Daniel, whom she rejected at birth. Guided by her father, George, a casualty of the Great War, Lily enters a world where spirits linger and destinies with the living intertwine.

My third novel, ‘The Devil in Me’, was written at the request of my two daughters’ fondness for romantic comedies. Take Roz, a thirty-something woman, on one day, one eventual day, who loses a million-pound contract, her job and learns her ex-fiancé has been kidnapped in Sierra Leone. From the partying streets of London to the jungle of Africa, Roz’s life is in for one helluva ride.

My second novel, ‘The Lying Truth’, unpeels the layers we all come to know as our realities. For Kate, a family secret buried years ago jettisons her into a world far from the truth, where lies and death are currency, and some people have to pay with their lives.

My first novel, ‘Blood Relationships’, where not everyone we meet survives, tests Claire and Tom’s endurance against historical evil that sees its rebirth on the streets of London as its network carves chaos, death and betrayal across European borders.

My best wishes,

Philip A. Oldfield
