I was born in Transylvania. And no, I never met Dracula or even heard about him until I emigrated to the West. He is the brainchild of Bram Stoker, an Irish novelist who never put his foot on that land.
Transylvania, a province of Romania, is in Eastern Europe, a part of the world which has been overrun by conquerors and liberators for millennia.
After twenty years under communist rule my family emigrated to Israel. Seven years later I emigrated alone to Sydney Australia.
Life in such dissimilar countries, under such disparate political systems - communism and capitalism - and of course marriage and motherhood have given me plenty to write about.
I am currently working on my second book.
