SoundBlends started when Erin Johnson was looking to find real, natural stories that allowed children to connect phonemic awareness, phonics lessons with real text. Too often the fun stories were not readable and the readable stories were not fun. So, building upon the latest understanding of phonemic awareness and the benefit of practicing blended phonics with connected text, she wrote 30 stories that in 30 weekly 1 hour lessons launched confident readers of chapter books!
Erin has been fortunate to have tutored numerous children and consulted with national organizations on the design of early reading materials.
