Leftow coined the term, "Bluetry" to represent jamming words to blues music. Bluetry, as an art form, grew out of being told her poems were too sad. Born in Washington Heights, and surviving a difficult childhood, Leftow says, “I have no choice but to write, it is a part of my internal design. My writings and performances emerge from my womb, and there is no greater love than a mother for her son. My striving to thrive defines my art.”
