My name is Benjamin Farrand, and I am a Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law and Policy at the University of Strathclyde. My research focuses predominantly on the interaction between law and politics, and in particular focusing on the development of copyright law and policy at the European level. Some of my other research interests include contemporary issues in patent policy, Internet law, regulatory theory and the regulation of human enhancement technologies. I publish regularly on the issue of European law-making, and the role of interest groups in shaping legislative responses.
I've lived and worked in a number of different countries, including having completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Sheffield, worked teaching law in Warsaw, Poland, and successfully studying for a PhD at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
