David Schachne

David Schachne was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He fell in love with nature and the great outdoors at an early age, after attending summer camp. An avid hiker and fitness enthusiast, he began writing in his mid-twenties, while earning his Masters degree at Harvard Business School. He always had a strong desire to write - about anything - but instead focused on his business career for over twenty years, spending most of his time drafting business proposals, working on contracts and writing thousands of administrative documents. After 9/11, while driving back from California to New York, he realized he needed to attempt to pursue his passion and started writing more creatively, about all sorts of subjects. He then decided to combine his love of writing with his passion for hiking and wrote "The Trek" - over many years. He has hiked in dozens of places around the world and has reached the summits of some of the tallest mountains in the U.S. and elsewhere. He has also climbed the steps of the Empire State Building in the annual Empire State Building Run Up and has marched through the dessert for the annual Bataan Memorial Death March at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. He has served on the boards of two successful businesses, as well as Make-a-Wish of CT. He resides in Connecticut with his wife and three daughters.
