Carlos C Solari was born in Colombia, South America but grew up in Huntington, Long Island, NY. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and the Naval Postgraduate School. Carlos served in the U.S. Army for 13+ years, later as a senior executive in the FBI during the 1990's and as the Chief Information Officer for the White House (2002 - 2005). This makes for an interesting life with lots of stories to tell. As a member of Bell Labs in 2008, Carlos and colleagues wrote a book addressing the issues of information security, now more commonly called "cyber security". This led to an idea that he could take some of that skill telling about the coming future of all things connected to the Internet to the world of fiction. El Capitan is his first in the world of fiction and a timely story that speaks to the matters of immigrant families growing up in the new land to the north. His second book of fiction is on the way picking up on his interest in cyber security with a crime thriller that takes place in Europe. Carlos is well traveled and a frequent speaker at security conferences around the world. He lives in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with his wife and a cat named Maggie. His grown daughter works in Washington DC.
