I am often overheard to say, “I hate people!” or “What is wrong with people!?” Many accuse me of being overly judgmental. My response is, “Is it judgmental for me to expect that people behave civilly by exhibiting respect and consideration for others?” This statement, by the way, always and without exception, fails to elicit any type of explanation from any Simple Sam who has just judged me for who I am and the statements I make. I find this both curious and contradictory.

Do I really hate people? Of course not! I may hate their character, their ignorance, their lack of a moral compass, the things they do, or the things they say, but I am smart enough to recognize that people are merely a product of the environment in which they exist. For that, I blame (and despise) the people whose responsibility it is to shape any individual who will someday be released into our society to fend for him or herself and (hopefully) cohabitate compliantly within a community. Babies are not born a**holes. They are groomed to be a**holes…by a**hole parents. Science has proven this.

As referenced many times throughout WISE UP!, my dream is a simple one. To live in a civil and obedient society where everyone contributes to the betterment of us all by practicing consideration, responsibility, accountability, and decorum.
