The early stage of the author's life as depicted in the book, was about life in Nigeria in the fifties. It is remarkable that the author was able to remember and recount events that occurred in his life, even at the tender age of three.

He had a dream of what exactly he wanted to make out of life at a very young and despite all obstacles, was able to realize his dream. He grew up in remote areas of Nigeria with his missionary parents. Not even the lack of basic amenities, a ferocious civil war and several near death experiences derailed him from pursuing his dream.

A friend once described the author as an "adorable rogue" who under normal circumstances should not be alive to tell his story.

The author trained as a doctor in Nigeria after which he proceeded to the United Kingdom for his postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology. His experience in his field of specialization was acquired from three continents where he practiced - Africa, Europe and Asia.

He is the author of several publications in reputable international journals in obstetrics and gynecology. His interest in maternal health led to the publication of his book title Pregnancy: a continuing source of sorrow and pain for women in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Currently, he undertakes lecture schedule in the United States and Nigeria on maternal health, with emphasis on maternal mortality during childbirth.
