Joe Boyle was born in Fleetwood on the northwest coast of Lancashire, UK, in less-than-salubrious surroundings, leaving school at 15 and becoming apprenticed to a decorating firm.
Saddled with a restless and enquiring mind, and a desire for attention, he moved into the world of entertainment and forced himself upon unsuspecting audiences for several years, managing to make a number of television appearances and dredging the cabaret circuits of the UK.
Writing came next (tucking in nicely around a degree in education and a teaching career) and his work somehow 'cut the mustard' on a number of comedy and drama productions for the BBC and ITV channels.
His sitcom 'Help!' - two series 1987 and 1988 - gained 10 million viewers on it's first outing. He knows this 'cos he got 10 million letters from viewers asking when it was going to finish.
Musical theatre took up a couple of years of his time, and his bio-musical 'The Sound of Fury' spent two years touring the UK. Meanwhile, his first novel 'BROG THE STOOP' was published by Scholastic followed by a second novel 'THE YEAR OF THE PHIAL' one year later - an antidote to a raging disease on a distant planet is lost, on Earth, in Viking times. It can only be retrieved if the direct descendent of the guy who found it is sent back it time. Our hero is that bloke. Oooooh!
There's an interesting story concerning the conception of 'BROG' which he is willing to tell to anyone who'll listen (and often to those who don't want to).
As we write he is living in utter poverty in Spain as an artist with the Light of his Life, Lesley, who has put up with him for more years than she cares to say.
The sequel to BROG - 'BROG 2 - RETRIBUTION', only 20 years late, is available on Amazon (or try Create Space). If you liked the first one, this one will blow your ears inside out! AND, since beginning this 'me' story, 'BROG 3 - GENERATIONS' has been published, and all 3 books in the BROG series, can be yours at the touch of a few buttons.
Also, 'RIPLEY! THE AROMATIC ADVENTURES OF THE WORLD'S SMELLIEST DOG' has hit the press, aimed at all senses of humour from 9 to 90. It features his real Grandchildren and their dog whose deadly farts (the dog's, not the grandchildren's) cause more trouble than any human can handle.
