MAURIZIO COSIMO ORTUSO

Maurizio Cosimo Ortuso is an Italian author, journalist, teacher and independent publisher whose life and writing have developed across countries, cultures and languages.

Born in Calabria and raised in Turin, he later lived in Paris, London and Stockholm. Travel and migration became more than geographical experiences: they shaped the way he observes people, society and himself.

Founder of Innede Edition, Ortuso has published works ranging from travel reportage and photography to social commentary, education, memoir and Buddhist philosophy.

He describes himself as curious, provocative but respectful of other opinions, loyal in friendship and affection, and more comfortable giving than receiving. He has always been attracted to what remains outside the spotlight: forgotten places, small museums, unknown works of art and ordinary people whose stories rarely become headlines.

His academic background in theology and his long experience as an educator have also influenced his writing, particularly his interest in spirituality, human behaviour and the search for meaning in everyday life.

For Ortuso, writing has never belonged to a single genre. It is a way of preserving journeys, encounters, doubts and memories — and of giving a voice to things that might otherwise disappear unnoticed.

He is less interested in telling readers what to think than in giving them something worth thinking about.
