John Wilson

Before becoming an accredited counsellor, Dr. John Wilson has worked as a laboratory technician, a school teacher and a university lecturer. In 2000 he began working as a bereavement counsellor at Saint Catherine's Hospice, Scarborough, in the UK. As well as carrying a caseload at the Hospice, John taught bereavement theory and practice to counsellors and volunteers, nurses, social workers and medical students. He completed his PhD in 2017, researching the process of therapeutic change in bereaved people receiving counselling. John is a visiting fellow of York St John University and Director of the Bereavement Service at York St John University Counselling and Mental Health Centre.

John is also a keen musician. He has played percussion in various soul, blues, and rock bands since the 1960s, and performs regularly in a working band.
