Mack W. Borgen

Mack W. Borgen is a national award-winning author and a graduate of Harvard Law School. He was born in Kalispell, Montana and was raised in the Pacific Northwest and then Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with Honors in Economics (where is also delivered one of last university-wide commencement addresses). Thereafter, he graduated from Harvard Law School.

After law school and after serving for more than four years in the U.S. Army, he moved to Coastal Spain to write. After his stay in Europe, he returned to the United States where he began a career simultaneously practicing business law and for years writing a private, monthly newsletter about various economic, political and social matters.

Over the last eight years, he has devoted much of his time to the writing a series of books entitled The Chance of a Life - A Series of Books About the Patient Remaking of American Life. The Relevance of Reason - Business and Politics is the first book in this series. Its companion book, The Relevance of Reason - Society and Culture was released in October, 2013.

In March, 2014, the first book was awarded First Runner Up as the Best Business Book of the Year at the 2014 Los Angeles Book Festival. In April, 2014 both books were named as finalists in their respective categories (Political Science and Popular Culture)for Best Book of the Year in ForeWord Review's National Book Contest. And more recently, in May, 2014, the second book (Society and Culture) was also selected as one of the Top 10% Finalists in the Eric Hoffer 2014 Book Award Contest. Amidst more than 1,500 book entries and university presses, on June 27, 2014 Borgen's second book (The Relevance of Reason - Society and Culture)received the Bronze Award (Third place)for best book of the year in the Popular Culture category.

In early 2018, Borgen then completed a three-volume series of new books entitled Dead Serious and Lighthearted - The Memorable Words of Modern America. In these three volumes (Volume I - 1957-1976); Volume II (1977-1993), and Volume III (1994-2015)). In these books, Borgen presents the history of Modern America in a fascinating, innovative and easy-to-read manner. Volume I (1957-1976) was released in March, 2018;.Volume II (1977-1993) was released in August, 2018; and Volume III (1994-2015) was released in January, 2019. The volumes in this series have received a number of wonderful reviews (including reviews from Kirkus Reviews, US Review of Books, and Clarion Reviews) and national book awards.

In March, 2021, Borgen released an entirely new type of book entitled The Writings of a Lifetime. This is a collection of stories written over the course of his lifetime. They are offered to lift our spirits, to make us laugh, and to help ease the tensions within our society. Some of the stories are autobiographical. Some are lighthearted. Some are serious. Most -- just like life -- lie in between.

Lastly and for the last decade, Borgen has also written more than 125 powerful blogs. Currently, he has been writing two topical series of blogs. The first presents "The Best Songs Lyrics of Modern America" and is cleverly premised upon the concept that lyrics are "the poetry of Modern America." The second series of blogs are collectively entitled "Fixing America" in which he presents 2-3-4 ideas in each blog for "Fixing America."
