Rev. Dr. Mary Johnson, D. Dr. Johnson has a D.Min in Clinical Psychology from Andover Newton in Newton, Mass., a Th.M., cum laude, from Boston University School Of Theology, and a BS, cum laud, in History & Psychology from Black Hills State University in South Dakota. She has pastored in Methodist, Congregational, Assembly Of God, and Independent churches. She offers an invaluable background in understanding the depths of illness, healing, grief, and recovery from long work in hospital chaplaincy at Tewskbury State Hospital & Holy Family Hospital in Massachusetts. Dr. Johnson also served as Executive Director & Senior Pastor for many decades of Good News Specialized Ministries which included a non-profit clinical Christian Counseling Center, Graduate School, and weekly community worship services. While also training and supervising graduate level counseling interns and minsters at Good News, she was appointed to the Adjunct Faculties of Antioch New England Graduate School, Goddard College, Gordon Conwell, and Keene State. Dr Johnson has earned credentials as a state licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, licensed Psychotherapist, nationally certified Pastoral Counselor, and Nationally Board Certified Counselor.
Dr. Johnson is also a skilled graphic artist and illustrator with extensive training in commercial art and beautifully illustrates her own books, giving a depth and richness to her profound writing. Her early training was as a commercial artist and teacher. Dr. Johnson has exhibited in numerous art shows and was voted as a member of the National Art Honor Society and has received many awards for her paintings and other art work. She has a strong love of family, ancient history, poetry, nature, art, painting, writing, gardening, and all God's people. She was born in West Virginia and was raised in Oklahoma and Kansas. After marrying Lt. Johnson, now a retired highly decorated veteran Air Force career officer, their assignments included Texas, California, N.Y., Okinawa, Thailand, Guam, NH, and SD. She is the mother of two sons. She also enjoys ministering, writing, and composing lyrics for over a dozen songs with her husband, Arnie, a UMC pastor. They enjoy ministering together in various capacities as a pastoral team and often do special services and workshops together.
