Professional MBA focus on leadership and innovation, business strategy, market analysis, accounting, finance, marketing, and supply chain.
A Certified Health Physicist (CHP) with 25 years of experience as a health physicist—received prestigious Elda E. Anderson Award from Health Physics Society in 2003 that recognizes excellence in research. He has published more than 60 journal articles and reports on health physics and related fields, and is the author of a widely used textbook, Decommissioning Health Physics, 2nd ed. published by Taylor & Francis (2014).
Abelquist began his now 21-year career at ORAU as a project leader for Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification (IEAV), overseeing a team of health physics technicians and conducting characterization and independent verification surveys at the Department of Energy’s (DOE) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) sites. He later worked for several years as the associate director for IEAV where, most notably, he contributed to the development and implementation of the Multiagency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSSIM).
