Tamara Lorenz Hampton

Tamara Lorenz Hampton enjoyed dolls as a small child in the 60s in Oregon. Her aunt in Seattle bought her her first Barbie. A grandmother gave her a Coty Girl type doll. Another grandmother would crochet marvelous hats for Barbie and coats for Ken. Mom gave her Penny Brite, Kathy Cry, Betsy Wetsy, Chatty Cathy and Pattaburp Dolls. Her sister saved many of their childhood dolls like Kiddles, Francie, Barbie and Dawn--and kept them from being lost for good. Her father tended to give her saws and hammers for Christmas but funded many projects and supported creative inclinations and interests when possible. During a period she lost interest in dolls as a teen, she began sewing thanks to a class in school, and the kind, tireless patience of one remarkable, neighbor lady who recognized Tamara was determined to learn. Tamara received a Business degree from Portland State University in 1984, resides in Las Vegas, has made over a hundred doll outfits now, and collects Cher dolls too.
