Susan Ellison Busch MSN, CNP wrote Yearning for Normal to bring awareness to the issues families face when raising children with 22q.11 Deletion Syndrome. Her middle son had the deletion. Though he has since died, Susan continues to be involved with the 22q Family Foundation in planning retreats for mothers raising children with 22q. Susan has spoken at national conferences on topics related to kidney disease and also about raising a son with Deletion 22q.11 Syndrome.
Chance at Life, her first novel. was ten years in the making. It provides the reader a glimpse into the unique culture and drama found in a dialysis unit, exploring staff and patient experiences, and the ethical questions raised by medical technology at life's end. In addition to teaching NP students at Kent State University, she also spent many years rounding on dialysis patients in a dialysis unit. Her engaging story, while fictional, includes details that only an insider would know.
She lives with her husband on the edge of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. When she isn’t working or trying to write, she enjoys the trees and the sky, hiking and playing tennis.
