Gautam Narula

Gautam (pronounced "Gotham") Narula is a writer and software engineer. He is the author of Remain Free, a memoir detailing his friendship with death row inmate Troy Davis and years working on the case while exploring the issues that plague the death penalty and our criminal justice system. Remain Free won the 2016 Georgia Author of the Year Award, winning ahead of President Jimmy Carter's A Full Life and making Gautam the youngest ever recipient of the award at the age of 22. His story was heard by millions on The Moth Radio Hour on NPR.

Gautam currently works as a Machine Learning Engineer in New York City, where he builds and studies artificial intelligence systems with the goal of one day applying it to the criminal justice system to prevent wrongful convictions.
