Matt Harris

Matt Harris was born in 1960 in the city of Baltimore and graduated from the University of Baltimore in 2020. Matt is a poet and author of a poetic memoir titled Seeing Through Blindness. He is also blind and nearly deaf due to an incurable genetic disease called Usher Syndrome. He uses assistive computer software and Braille for his work as a poet. Scripture often helps Matt cope with the challenges associated with a dual-sensory disability, like, for instance, these encouraging words from the Apostle Paul: “…Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
