Daniel Anthony Hartis

Daniel Hartis was born and raised in the small town of Waxhaw, NC, just south of Charlotte. He didn't truly experience good beer, however, until he moved to Asheville to go to school. While working for the school paper, he was asked to write about the many microbreweries that called the city home.

After graduating, Daniel returned to Charlotte with a newfound interest in craft beer. In the years to come, Charlotte would see brewery after brewery pop up, and in 2011 Daniel founded CharlotteBeer.com, a site devoted to Charlotte's breweries, beer bars, and events. While that site is devoted to Charlotte's current craft beer climate, Daniel has also extensively researched the history of the city's brewing scene, and in 2013 he wrote "Charlotte Beer: A History of Brewing in the Queen City." He followed that title with "Beer Lover's The Carolinas," which was published in April of 2014.

When he is not drinking or writing about craft beer, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter.
