Maya Sharma Sriram is an award-winning writer and poet. Her work has appeared in many journals in India and abroad. Her poem was included in “Voices in Time“, an anthology of poems short-listed in the All India Poetry competition conducted by the British Council and the Poetry Society of India. She won the Elle Fiction award 2010. Her story was long listed for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, 2019.. She published her debut novel, “Bitch Goddess for Dummies” to considerable success. She has read her work at many events, including the 10,000 Poets for Change in Mumbai and the Pondicherry Poetry Festival 2019. She was the co- curator and co host of the recently held Chennai Lockdown Literary Festival (May 29- May 31, 2020). Her short stories were performed as part of Speaking Stories series by the renowned theatre person, Prasanna Ramaswamy. An avid traveler, she enjoys trips with a focus on culture and history. Her travel pieces have appeared in The DNA , the Literary Traveller and The Hindu. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
