Ronald Switzer is a 33-year veteran of the National Park Service. As an anthropologist and western historian, he has written numerous journal articles and several major books, including The Bertrand Bottles, A study of 19th Century Glass and Ceramic Containers, The Steamboat Bertrand and Missouri River Commerce, When Justice came to the Plains, and Arkansas, the Forgotten Land of Plenty. His monographs include Tobacco Pipes and Cigarettes of the Prehistoric Southwest, and Snake and Lightning Cults of the Southwest.
