Ann Patavino Vincola Votta was born in Mount Vernon, NY in 1943 and spent most of her childhood in Yonkers, NY, where she attended Charles E. Gorton High School. She graduated from SUNY Cortland in 1965 and finished a master's degree at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She began her career as a junior high school English teacher in the mid-60s, and then moved on to consulting; first as an educational consultant and then as a nationally recognized work/life and human resource consultant. She served as a child care expert and a pioneer of the work/life movement in America. She also served as a Professor of Education at several universities in the Boston area. In 2000 she opened an antique and home decor business on Martha's Vineyard. Her life changed dramatically in 2009 when she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Alan Votta. They were wed in 2010 and their story is the subject of her first book, "Reunited: When the Past Becomes a Present". She is now focusing on memoir and travel writing and helping others as a life coach. Her second book, "From Italy & Back: Coming Full Circle" was published in October 2018. That book details her childhood memories as an Italian-American and relives her many travels to Italy, the country of her ancestors, and describing the journey to obtaining her Italian passport and becoming an Italian citizen. She lives in Sarasota, FL with her husband Alan. Her two children, David Vincola and Leigh Vincola, from her first marriage, reside in Las Vegas, Nevada and Providence, RI, respectively.
