Ray Hogan

Ray is a 30 year hands on developer and technologist. He has lived the life of the PC starting with CP/M in 1982. A degree in electronics engineering, he was drawn to software and computers and began his career as a database developer.

Ray spent a few decades developing relational database systems for large and small companies... Commodities Trader, Scrap Metal Yard, Pharma Giant, Insurance Giant, Telecommunications Giant, Prestegious University.

Ray was however a cool geek. Since he was 17, he was studying karate and eventually (12 years later) took over the school from his Sensei. He went on to run the school in the evenings after a hard day programming for another 11 years. He taught hundreds of people, young and old.

In the late 90's, he needed a break from doing technology. After some consideration, we realized that he could combine his teaching skill with his technology skill and became a technical trainer. He worked for 2 years teaching people to make database driven websites at a technical university in NJ. He returned to technology to make one of a kind research gadgets for researchers at a university. He again returned to technical training by working for Cognos (now IBM) as a highly reviewed technical trainer.

Ray has un unusual ability to both do technology and explain it and brings that to his writing.

He is currently Doing Business Intelligence development for a Major financial institution in the NYC area where he does database work, Cognos Development and even sometimes still teaches Cognos to his fellow employees.
