Constance DeVereaux

Constance DeVereaux, Ph.d. (1957- ) is an American philosopher currently living in Connecticut. An associate professor and director of Arts Leadership and Cultural Management at University of Connecticut, she served as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in American Studies in Finland, South Africa, and Romania. Her research includes new methods for cultural policy analysis, and of discourse of practice in cultural management. With co-researcher, Kristen Swanson, she developed the conceptual framework, Culturally Sustainable Entrepreneurship for formulation and evaluation of cultural policies. She is an executive editor for the Journal of Cultural Management and Cultural Policy, and is a regular contributor to scholarly publications on issues relating to cultural policy and cultural management.

She is a freelance news writer and radio reporter. In 2013, she received a first place National Headliners Award for radio feature reporting. In 2007, she was awarded a Puffin Foundation grant to support a multi-media stage production of her creative work entitled: Hard Stories to Tell. She has a fondness for small, hometown newspapers. For a short period (1993-1994), she was the owner/publisher of the original Las Vegas Weekly.
