Tim Watkins

Tim Watkins graduated from University of Wales College Cardiff with a First Class economic science degree in 1990.

Between 1990 and 1997 he worked as a policy researcher with the Welsh Consumer Council where he wrote and published several key policy reports including: Quality of Life and Quality of Service – an investigation into the provision of residential care homes for older people - and In Deep Water – an investigation into the many problems that followed the North Wales (Towyn) floods of February 1990.

Between 1998 and 2010, Tim Watkins worked for the charity Depression Alliance Cymru, initially as a development worker, and between 2003 and 2010 as its Director. During that time he produced several mental health publications for the charity.

Between 2001 and 2010 Tim Watkins was appointed to sit on several Welsh Government advisory bodies including the Health and Wellbeing Council for Wales, the Burrows-Greenwell Review of Mental Health Services in Wales and the Expert Panel on Depression.

Since 2010, Tim Watkins has authored a range of mental health and wellbeing self-help books and booklets, together with two books about charities and a guide to the digital self-publishing revolution. In 2015 he published Austerity - will kill the economy, a critique of the economic policies adopted in the UK since 2010; and Britain’s Coming Energy Crisis, a guide to the UK’s particular vulnerabilities in a world without cheap oil.

Tim Watkins is a founder-director of Waye Forward Ltd. A qualified Life Coach, he also provides coaching, mentoring and support to other writers.

In his spare time, Tim Watkins practices and occasionally teaches yoga, regularly cycles for both transport and pleasure, and plays guitar.
