Dean Strang is an Associate Professor and Director of the Institute for Justice Reform and Innovation at Drake University Law School. He also remains Of Counsel to his law firm. The United States' court system during the Progressive Era, including World War I, and its treatment of outsiders, newcomers, and people at societal margins are his particular interest. More generally, his work considers the role of courts and the legal profession in perpetuating and permitting injustice, and their complicated relationship with the ideal of justice. In addition to his two books of legal history, he has written and co-authored many law review articles.
