Samir Sinha

Samir Sinha is a senior officer of the Indian Forest Service with over two decades of hands-on experience across several important assignments in the field of wildlife conservation. He has also served on secondment from the Government, as Head of TRAFFIC India/ South Asia Regional Office working on wildlife trade issues. He was closely associated with the establishment of the South Asia Wildlife Enforcement Network (SAWEN) with all eight South Asian countries as members and continues to work closely with state, federal and international law enforcement agencies and other organizations towards developing and delivering capacity building programs and on policy and implementation issues on this theme.

His work on wildlife trade issues in India and South Asia is widely acknowledged. He has recently received the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship to study CITES implementation in the USA and its implications for India and South Asia. A Post Graduate (Honours) Diploma in Wildlife Management from the Wildlife Institute of India, he has received several other awards and recognitions for his work.

As a Field Manager, he continues to lead from the front, fighting threats to our unique and threatened biodiversity.
